Emanuel, Man Ray, Radnitzky was born in 1890 to a Russian-Jewish immigrant family in Philadelphia. 

​

He died on November 18, 1976, in Paris France.

​

He learned to draw freehand in high school, and later worked as a freelance painter from his studio in his parents' home.

His impact on the world was through his surrealist and dada art. He was a leader in these movements, Though he was overshadowed by his friend and collaborator, Marcel Duchamp.

​

He promoted widening horizons when regarding art and his quirky style influenced many artists in the future such as Andy Warhol and Joseph Kosuth
